Rambling 04:32
--LYRICS-- I am rambling My soliloquy is overheard It is wandering And I've got nothing out It's all the same I've wasted days I'm drenched in doubt I've got nothing out I am rambling I am scatterbrained and overworked It is tiring And I've got nothing out Meandering Is disheartening But if you can't perceive Then it's time you need You held no doubt, it was all talked out And you can't afford to seem so unsure You held no doubt, it was all thought out You just don't recall how you felt before I am rambling My soliloquy is overheard It is wandering And I've got nothing out

-- LYRICS -- It's this confusing, juxtaposed position in which you find me Where I cannot move, I cannot stand, but I can't wait to get gone Maybe I'm approaching it wrong, maybe it's me The way that I think, the way I behave and emote Things should just get better and better There should be no backward steps We should just move forward together Blissful 'til we meet our end We should only deal in progression There should be no backward steps We should just move forward forever Blissful 'til we meet our end I'm this confusing, asinine mess of emotion and mind Where my brain has a way of miring my day from the start Maybe I should hide away and count on the passing of time And spend all my days lost in malaise in the dark Things should just get better and better There should be no backward steps We should just move forward together Blissful 'til we meet our end We should only deal in progression There should be no backward steps We should just move forward forever Blissful 'til we meet our end If there's something in your head and it's telling you you're wrong then shut it out If there's someone that you love telling you they're proud don't laugh about it If you're howling in your bed at night then you can let it out It's okay to feel blue if it's a difficult time for you It's okay to feel blue if it's a difficult time for you Things might not get better and better There might be some backward steps We might not move forwards forever Blissful 'til we meet our end We might have to deal with regression There might be some backward steps But we must move forwards together Right until the very end If there's something in your head and it's telling you you're wrong then shut it out If there's someone that you love telling you they're proud don't laugh about it If you're howling in your bed at night then you can let it out It's okay to feel blue if it's a difficult time for you It's okay to feel blue if it's a difficult time for you

Friend & Foe 03:46
--LYRICS-- It's just one of those days Can't help but admire the way That you're breaking all the things you've had to make It's just one of those days Can't help but hide away And I wonder what is left for me to say After telling you that everything okay When everything around you is caving in And I'm waiting in the rafters before climbing Sometimes I feel alone believing no one's gonna win And it's hard you know To blend friend and foe It's just one of those days You've darkened despite your face And you're swelling with adrenaline and rage It's just one of those days You've faltered and made mistakes And you wonder is it ever gonna change Or is this you that everyone hates When everything around you is caving in And I'm waiting in the rafters before climbing Sometimes I feel alone believing no one's gonna win And it's hard you know To blend friend and foe It's just one of those days Where you think that you've found a way To remove yourself of panic and of shame It's just one of those days That came on to slow your pace And to push you into putting on the breaks And to learn that everybody does the same When everything around you is caving in And I'm waiting in the rafters before climbing Sometimes I feel alone believing no one's gonna win And it's hard you know To blend friend and foe Hard you know To blend friend and foe

Do It Anyway 04:05
-- LYRICS -- Though the sea may roll me And though the waves may swell I will not worry I will ride them well And though the clouds may gather And though the winds may scream I will not worry Though I'm a worrier's dream The fear of falling's a waste And you can learn to do it anyway The fear may never abate But you can never sway or hesitate When I thought I'd managed To outrun myself I fell foul of this damage And of my failing health And it would spark from an ember A baleful dark reprise Always in an instant A sudden, stark surprise The fear of falling's a waste And you can learn to do it anyway The fear might never abate But you can never sway or hesitate The fear of falling's a waste And you can learn to do it anyway The fear might never abate But you can never sway or hesitate The fear of falling's awake But you can learn to do it anyway The fear might never abate But you must never sway or hesitate The fear of falling's okay But you can learn to do it anyway The fear might never abate But you must never sway or hesitate

about

Always an intelligent and unique songwriter, it's now been five years since Mat's debut EP 'To Being Free'. Inspired by and likened to James Vincent McMorrow, Nathaniel Rateliff and Woodkid, the EP quickly captured the hearts of many and drew the attention of some of the industry's finest tastemakers (The Line of Best Fit, Drowned in Sound, Clash, The 405). Culminating in over a million streams online, the success of this debut EP led to high profile support slots with Axel Flovent, Seafret, Hyde & Beast and To Kill A King.

What followed was an impromptu hiatus fuelled by burnout. It's taken until 2021 for Mat to fully rekindle his passion for songwriting, but it is clear to see that the hiatus has resulted in a musician reborn with fresh enthusiasm and refined skill.

‘A Worrier’s Dream’ is a collection of pertinent and reflective recordings that were recorded remotely, before being expertly mixed by Paul Gregory (Lanterns on the Lake). The six-track EP includes three already released singles: ‘Backward Steps’, ‘Friend & Foe’ and ‘Rambling’, each of which show Mat’s songwriting in its very best light. They’re compelling and satisfying pieces that demonstrate a maturity far beyond that of his earlier work, intricately weaving melody and lyrics to leave the listener enthralled. Each of the three singles have been championed by BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio alike.

'A Worrier's Dream' EP will be out on 28th January 2022.

about

Mat Hunsley Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

In September 2022, the Newcastle-based songsmith will return with single Just The Family Inside. With intricacy akin to Fleet Foxes and bursting with charm comparable to Bright Eyes' First Day Of My Life, Just The Family Inside provided yet further proof that Mat has become a writer comparable to few others.
